In Raleigh, NC there is a restaurant called The Angus Barn. It is one of those fancy steak places where you go for anniversaries and special occasions. Ironically you can spent $100 for dinner while you eat at a table with a red and white checker table cloth. I have to say the food is very good though.
One of there signature items is their Chocolate Chess Pie. Luckily they are nice enough to share the recipe with all of us. So here is The Angus Barn’s Chocolate Chess Pie. The only change I made was to use Whole Foods Gluten Free Pie Crust that you find in the freezer section.
What You Need:
– 1 uncooked GF pie crust
– 1/2 cup butter
– 2 (1 ounce) squares of semi-sweet baker’s chocolate
– 1 cup sugar
– 2 eggs
– 1 tsp vanilla
– 1 dash of salt
How to Make It:
Heat oven to 350. In small pot melt butter and chocolate together. (You will have to stir it so it mixes well.) Mix other ingredients in a bowl. Slowly add in melted butter/ chocolate mixture. Pour into pie crust and bake for 35 minutes.
Serve warm with cool whip or ice cream.
My hubby likes to eat it cold right out of the fridge!

I stumbled upon your blog with a google search for gluten free chocolate chess pie! Thanks so much for posting! I live in Raleigh and used to love making this pie before being diagnosed with Celiacs. I’m making the GF version today! I look forward to reading the rest of your blog & using more of your recipes.
