When I first went Gluten Free Mellow Mushroom was one of the first Gluten Free pizzas I tried. I have to say eating that pizza three years ago did not give me much hope for finding good Gluten Free pizza. At that point the restaurant chain was using a crust that contained bean flour. I quickly learned that bean flours have a distinct taste that I’m not a fan of. I know a lot of GF people enjoy the bean flours, but I’m just not personally a fan. Here is my original review about the pizza.
It recently came to my attention that Mellow Mushroom was now using Smart Flour to make their crust! This gave me new hope that I could enjoy the pizza at Mellow Mushroom again. I quickly scheduled a visit in our weekly menu and off we went. Our local restaurant has kids eat free on Monday’s so I made sure we went on a Monday!
The Gluten Free menu is clearly posted in all the regular menus. There were clear options and lots of choices. They crust is also vegan and they have dairy free cheese! I decided to go with the house special. All the Gluten Free pizzas are 12 inches and you pay the medium size prize off the regular menu. This meant my pizza alone was $18.99. The pizza was pretty big though, so I got two meals out of it plus had enough to share with the kids.
The taste was way better with the new crust! The toppings also fresh and tasty! The pizza was covered with mounds of yummy veggies and meats.
I’m glad to say Mellow Mushroom has won me over and will be put on the safe list for our family to go to.
Enjoy!
