When you find a safe place you can travel and enjoy safe Gluten Free food, you go a lot and it’s an added bonus if that place is in Mexico!
Hubby and I love to travel, with and without the kids. At least once a year we try to escape just the 2 of us to be together. Sometimes we go close by and other times we travel further to escape.
There is one resort chain that we have found that is not only beautiful, has amazing service, but it also can safely feed me Gluten Free food! We have been to Secrets Maroma Beach twice, Secrets Cap Cana once and our most recent trip was to Secrets Capri.
Of all the resorts we have been to Capri had the most amazing food with a highlight of chocolate eclairs!
We went with some friends on this trip, which also made it more fun. We loved sharing our experience with them and one of them was dairy free, so I knew he would be taken care of.
Secrets Capri has 6 restaurants and we went to 5 of them during our visit. All the menus are clearly marked with vegetarian, dairy free and gluten free items. As soon as we told the staff that we needed gluten free for me and dairy free for our friend they made sure we had lots of options.
Oceana– we had lunch here. Lunch was soup with grilled chicken and veggies
Seaside Grill– we had dinner here. I enjoyed a salad, steak, and potatoes.
Himitsu– was of one of our favorite restaurants and we ate here at least 3 times. They have GF sushi, fried rice, and can even make gluten free food at the hibachi table. Epic!
Cactus Cafe– we had breakfast and lunch at this outdoor cafe
La Riviera– this is the buffet that is open all day. Just find a chef and they will let you know what is safe to eat.
The most amazing part was a huge dessert table filled with gluten free treats. It had a sign that said Gluten Free, but I didn’t believe it because the food looked too good. I found the chef, threatened him in English and in Spanish to promise me the treats were safe. I then had him send someone to the kitchen to show me the gluten free flour mix. I then ate my weight in desserts to include the most amazing eclairs.
Aside from the food, the resort was beautiful! We had a great room, with amazing views and staff that learned our names and had our favorite drinks waiting for us.
I enjoyed Secrets Capri so much I’m actually going back in March with my GFBFF Cindy from Vegetarian Mamma, so follow along on social media to see what we find!
So if you are looking for an all-inclusive, adult only retreat, I highly recommend visiting one of the many Secrets Resorts. You won’t be disappointed and you might even end up with an eclair!
