Do you love kitchen gadgets? Are your closets filled with various devises that do fun things to food? Our kitchen gadgets grew this past week when we ordered a Paderno World Cuisine Spiralizer
What is this strange contraption you ask? Well it is a tool to help you slice veggies and fruit. It comes with 3 different blades that let you make ribbons, think spaghetti noodles and regular spaghetti noodles. There is a girl named Ali who has taken her love of a spiralizer to a whole new level with her blog, Inspiralized. We got ours from Amazon, see below.
We bought the spiralizer so we would eat more veggies and less carbs. The hubby and I have enjoyed a number of meals thanks to this fun gadget! Here is our newest favorite recipe: sweet potato noodles with spinach and bacon. Adapted from this recipe.
What You Need:
1 tbsp olive oil
½ red onion, chopped
¼ tsp minced garlic
1 sweet potato – spiralized into regular spaghetti noodles
salt and pepper
1 tsp GF seasoning blend – I use Love from Virtuous Living
½ cup water
1 GF vegetable bouillon cube – I use Massel Vegetable 7’s
Massel 7’s Bouillon Cube, Vegetable, 1.23-Ounce (Pack of 30)
2 handfuls spinach, chopped
4 sliced of cooked bacon, chopped
How To Make It:
Heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Then add the olive oil, garlic and onions. Stir and cook for 3 minutes. Then add in the spiralized sweet potatoes, salt and pepper and seasoning blend. Stir and cook for 3 minutes. Then add water, bouillon cube and spinach. Stir and cook for 3 minutes. Serve with the bacon pieces.
This recipe is for 2 adult portions. You will need to adjust to make for a family.
Not only is this a beautiful dish, it is super tasty and filling. I made a salad to go with mine but didn’t end up eating it because I was full from the sweet potato dish.
The sweet potato noodles turned out to be really fun to eat. They cooked up quickly in the oil and water. When I say stir and cook above, I do not mean to stir constantly because that will turn your potatoes into mush. Just stir to incorporate and then let cook.
I can see this becoming a fun and quick meal for us.
Enjoy!

So if I don’t have that seasoning blend, what can be used in replacement? What kind of spices are in the blend? I want to try this recipe today!

A good base mix would be – garlic powder, oregano, salt, pepper, paprika
The Mrs. Dash brand has some good options for GF seasoning mix
