I love pasta and baked ziti is one of my favorite dishes! I have missed it since going Gluten Free so I came up with this Gluten Free version.
What you need:
2 jars of 16oz GF pasta sauce
1 lb ground beef
1/2 onion, chopped
1 clove garlic minced or chopped
18 oz GF pasta
15 oz Ricotta
1 egg
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
3 cups mozzarella cheese
oregano to taste
How to Make it:
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Brown beef with onions and garlic, drain fat. Add sauce to meat. While pasta is cooking (only cook for 3/4 time on package), mix ricotta, egg, oregano, parmesan and 1.5 cups of mozzarella cheese. When pasta is cooked mix into cheese mixture. Cover bottom of 9×12 casserole dish with sauce. Add a layer of pasta/ cheese mixture, then a sauce layer, repeat. Cover the dish with the remaining mozzarella cheese. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Bake uncovered for another 10 minutes.
This tasted like the real deal! We had Gluten eaters over for dinner and they raved about it! It makes a lot but I’m looking forward to leaf overs tomorrow! Sorry the pictures aren’t great we started to serve the guests before I remembered to take a picture.

I have to say I am going on one year of my celiacs diagnosis and I just found your wonderful site last night. I am a Cheese, Pasta and Bread girl and baked Ziti was my all time fave dish… Thank you so much for this recipe…
I made it tonight and I kept saying to my husband that I was eating pure heaven and I was!!! I actually cried half way through dinner.I can now once again enjoy my favorite dish and best of all I can now prepare it ahead and take it with me when we travel a few hours from home š
Please keep your wonderful site stocked up on the great recipes and freezer meal ideas… I will be visiting a lot!!!
PS the whole family also enjoyed the baked Ziti as much as I did š

This recipe is very confusing. It states 2 jars of pasta sauce but not what size jar. It calls for a clove of garlic but doesn’t say what to do with the garlic. (ie slice, press, mince) The ingredients call for 1 egg but no where in the directions does it call for it. Calls for Oregano but no amount. I’m making this for the first time so I certainly hope it comes out ok.
